ELCIES attends Sporttechie meetups
During the months of May and June, Victoris, Sporttechie and Sportcareers teamed up to organize four meetups in the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent. The goal was to create informal gatherings of entrepreneurs in the sports business, while simultaneously giving specific academics and professionals a platform to talk about their experiences. Co-founder Jacq van der Steen attended three of these meetings and it proved to be an excellent place to explain ELCIES to fellow entrepreneurs and identify potential strategic partners.
The meetings worked around 4 topics:
The first topic highlighted sports performance and training technology. The second one covered the technology for consumer sports and health and the third one covered the fan engagement and digital marketing. At last but not least, it was all about sharing inspiring stories on the implementation of sports technology. The gatherings featured some interesting speakers such as the former Belgian athlete Joeri Vansteelant and Roel Vaeyens, the Sport Coordinator at Club Brugge.
The result of the four meetups was a list of do’s and don’ts for every sports startup and business. These included the need for a user-centered design, simplicity and strategic management of data.
Given those elements are already forming ELCIES’s core building block, we were delighted to share our views. Dr. Kristof De Mey, the organizer also hopes the meetings were the building blocks of a community of sports business that can work together to create true innovation.
Strengthened by the enthusiasm and approval of fellow entrepreneurs and some interesting new contacts, ELCIES will continue its goal of convincing everyone to sign up and challenge themselves for the “Healthier You” and have fun in the process!
